a non-profit corporation, for the promotion of New Testament Christianity.
Primarily, the Gospel Herald seeks to serve the churches of Christ in Canada.

DEADLINES
-
The Gospel Herald is issued on the first day of each month. All materials,
including news, obituaries, advertising, etc. must be in Beamsville ready
for typesetting by the third to the last Tuesday of the month preceding
the date of issue. (Please note: December deadline is a week earlier).
-
Teaching articles should be in Winnipeg in time to allow for editorial
consideration and review before the final deadline. The first Friday of
the month is our target date. (Note: To facilitate planning, layout
and production, as well as ease pressure, the editors have established
the goal of having teaching copy for each issue ready in the previous month.
Thus, copy received in January might not appear until the March or April
issues at the earliest.)
-
Teaching articles sent to Beamsville will be forwarded to Winnipeg, which
may delay their appearance in the Gospel Herald.
-
Items received after these dates will be considered for later publication.
-
Those sending time sensitive materials will please see that these
arrive well ahead of the deadline to avoid disappointment.

LENGTH
-
Article length varies. Common lengths include: one column (1/3 page), a
half page, two columns (2/3 page) and a full page.
-
A full page article is equivalent to a little more than three typewritten
pages of text (double spaced, 10 characters per inch). For those
using computers or word processors, this is about 5,600 bytes, not including
the title.
-
Longer articles and article series are also accepted.
-
The editors reserve the right to run longer articles in two or more issues.
-
Those considering preparing a series of articles should advise the editors
of their intentions to allow adequate planning and ensure the best possible
continuity.

FORMAT
- We prefer to receive articles via e-mail. However, please paste the article into the email itself. This allows us to copy and paste the text into our own word processing programs without having to deal with file conversions. If you want to highlight parts of your copy, you can either add a note with the article indicating what highlights you want. We have found it easiest to identify the highlights by using either parentheses or brackets "< >" (as with HTML) within the text itself. Thus to italicize something, your text to be highlighted would be identified like this:
"normal text (italics) text to be italicized (/italics) normal text".
Note that the highlight is marked at both the beginning and end. The end is identified by the use of the "/".
Using the same convention, text can be marked as bold or underlined.
- PLEASE NOTE: Due to the number of worms and viruses being distributed via email, please do not send your article as an attachment. Please paste it into the email message itself. We have received problem attachments from very reliable people. Our experience has been that the safest course is not to accept email attachments
-
If submitted as a printed text, articles should be neatly typed (i.e. typewriter, computer printer), double-spaced,
and have adequate margins (min. 1 inch - all sides).
-
Articles may also be submitted on computer disk. (If mailing diskettes, please ensure that they are adequately protected. Please make a backup copy for yourself.)
-
Computer diskettes should be IBM-compatible, preferably in an ASCII text file. (Most word processing programs should be adequate.)

POLICY
-
The editorial policy of the Gospel Herald is to maintain a positive, family
oriented approach. The Herald is intended to teach, inform, edify and encourage,
while maintaining a solid Biblical foundation and building unity among
Canadian congregations and Christians.
-
To be considered for inclusion, articles should reflect this tone.
-
Since the Herald seeks to serve a very general market, unnecessary controversy
should be avoided. All articles should demonstrate a positive Christian
attitude in their approach and manner of dealing with their subject. Articles
should be fair, balanced and Biblically sound.
-
The editors reserve the right to edit any item submitted for publication
with regard to spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc. They will not
alter or change the content of an article without prior discussion with
and the approval of the writer.
-
Neither the Gospel Herald nor its editors can be responsible for materials
lost or damaged in the mail.
-
Normally, materials submitted for publication are neither acknowledge nor
returned.
-
Please indicate if an article has been submitted to other publications.
-
The Gospel Herald does not remunerate writers for their articles.
-
Materials taken from other sources should be identified and the original
sources properly credited.
-
Copyrighted materials should not be used without the copyright owner's
permission. This refers to reproducing a substantial part of the copyrighted
work. Simple quotations constitute "fair usage" and are permissible if
properly cited.
-
The editors of the Gospel Herald will not knowingly publish anything that
they know to be false, erroneous, misleading or plagiarized.
-
The inclusion of any item in the Gospel Herald does not necessarily imply
complete endorsement by the editors of either source or content.
-
Submission of an article to the editors is considered to be an acceptance
of these policies, as well as giving the Gospel Herald the right to publish
the article.
