BY My love Dianna

There I waited in pale moonlight
with my anticipation rising and falling with pure delight.
Then, I thought -
Should I go now, take the high ground,
protected by the shade of my trees
or should I wait for you
and hope that my searing passion and troubled heart would be eased.
I know in your arms the maddening world would go away,
and together, my Soul Mate, we would forever love and play.
Maybe somewhere beyond these sand dunes and stormy seas.
lies a place with smaller waves and a softer breeze,
where two mighty oaks can grow together toward the light.
Where eagles can soar in graceful flight.
Hidden in this world, you see, there's a place I long to be,
where fragrant beauty does abound, and peace of mind is quietly found.
And, then -
As the night grew darker, I shuddered with chills
I looked around this haven for two lovers, a place to pause,
to share tender and passionate moments under the burning stars -
I realized it could never be.
I'll fade away slowly,
overwhelmed with grief at what might have been,
If only . . .
