Who we are
In 1955 the 393 Golf Club was formed
for all it's union members who wish to join. It is a non-profit organization
with by laws and board members to help keep it on an even keel. Being formed for
just union members it's membership had approximately 55 members with only an
average of 16 to 20 golfing at any tournament. Gene Sasser, President of
the club at that time and it's President for about 30 years would take it's
members to play different courses all year long. In 1973 Jerry Bennett and Andy
Hernandez suggested the club should become part of NCGA and have the NCGA take
care of the handicaps on a year round basis. Membership immediately jumped to
102. Today the membership has average of 65 and membership is limited
100. After the retirement of Gene Sasser in 2000, Andy Hernandez was
elected president. The
393 Golf Club has yearly tournaments that end up with club champions for
A, B, C and D flights.
Why we exist
To promote friendly golf relations among
members; encourage and promote golf by conducting
tournaments; feature the standings, establish and maintain handicaps, post page for the
members etc..
