It saddens me to see that how incompassionately this whole affair is being handled by the IOC, and to some extent the Romanian authorities too. The IOC is being adamant on their resolve to keep the games drug free, I agree fully, but not in this case, you cant just strip someone of his/her medal just because the person took a simple cold medicine. After all too err is to human, the doctor did an awful mistake and he has been punished enough, why is Andreea being made a scapegoat??
On the other hand are the Romanian authorities, awarding montetary rewards as a consolation of the GOLD MEDAL is not the point, the point is who will, if ever, amongst the management will realise the pressure and trauma this girl went through and offer a sincere apology. The management both the IOC and Romanian government are making this prestige issue and no is relasing that they are putting a talented young athlete's career at stake.
I really appreciate the team spirit the other team members of the Romainian gymnastic team have shown, by willing to give up their medals as a way of protest and her coach and father figure Octavian Bellu for standing up for her. Three cheers to you guys. And yes all the loyal fans world over, you guys have been great...!!
What I have to say to Andreea is be strong, because in your heart you know and in we know in ours that, you did nothing wrong, so hold your head high and keep up the spirit pumped up and of course dont let go of the sweet charming smile, we have to see you perform over and over again.
