Uniform requirements for the 325GIR (WWII HRS)
Unlike the paratrooper units of the 82nd Airborne, the 325th Glider Infantry wore basically the same field uniform as the regular infantry. Before Operation Market-Garden, the M41 field jacket and wools were replaced by the M43 uniform, and the low boots and leggings replaced by the M1943 "double buckle" boots or jump boots. Since the primary impression of our group is the early war, or "Normandy," impression, this uniform is what you should concentrate on first. Below is a list of required items that you will need to complete the basic field impression, followed by some picture examples of some of the gear we use. On the Source page you will find links to some of the better vendors of original and reproduction uniform and equipment. For further information on the uniforms and equipment of the American GI, and the Glider forces in general, see our page of Recommended Reading.
