Have You Ever Seen An Angel?

Before one can obtain a clear picture of the nature and role of angels it is essential to understand the nature of reality in spiritual terms. Sometimes these beautiful and worn out old terms need to be redefined. Certainly we cannot confirm that angels in the roles described through the historical church are a reality. There are personalities, however, in many phases and planes of spiritual reality that we would consider to equate to the role of angels, if for no other reason than that we have no better word to convey the role of their presence and activity.

Imagine that you stand off at some vantage point from which you are capable of observing vast regions of physical and spiritual reality. From this point the physical dimension would be one of many states of reality. And certainly the physical life would not be confined to earth-life by any means. From this multi-dimensional viewpoint you would observe certain patterns of personalities that provide unique channels of communication and co-ordination. You would observe that this co-ordination takes place at many levels. Strangely, you would observe activities in many time-frames (in physical earth concepts) occurring simultaneously. Past, present, and to some extent, future activities would be seen to play out certain roles in various combinations between levels of activity. You would begin to observe many inter-relationships between what you had at first thought to be separate and clearly divided planes of reality. The interfaces between these planes of reality result in a composite view of reality so complex that it begins to defy comprehension. Regions of awareness at higher levels of being are, indeed, incomprehensible. Yet you observe from your vantage point that all planes of being perform in harmony with all other planes. There are no hang-ups or no-goes in Heaven; all perform as one in unison and in harmony.

Within the complex interrelationship of this multi- dimensional reality, we have down here in one very little corner what is known as "The World View of Reality" .This World View developed out of the scientific approach to reality in the earth accepts as reality only those things that are identifiable and measurable. Certainly there is no room for anything so unrealistic as angels in this world view of reality. If we are to encompass a reality in which angels are encountered, we must move off our hard rock of the concept held by the physical-earth world view. Call it a Cosmic View, a Universal View, but we must move off the rock on which we have built our World View from earth if we are to comprehend the nature and role of angels. We will refer to this concept simply as an Awareness View.

Certainly since the time of the writing of Ephesians, and before, man has thought of angels as belonging to various orders, choirs, or levels of authority in the celestial kingdom. These concepts are not without some justification. These personalities, if we are to refer to them as angels, are very diverse and of many and varied planes of being. They perform multiple roles in vast choirs of reality. The orchestras of life are beyond comprehension and so are the many roles of the personalities we refer to as angels.

Let us confine ourselves to those roles performed by angels, which in some way relate to life in terms of the human person and spirit. Understand that the World View so widely accepted in the earth is inconsistent with the reality we observe from our Awareness View. Mankind in the earth is but an interlude within a much greater weaving. Physical life is one of the points of reference within a much larger reality. Therefore, the physical life does interface with, is influenced by, and in turn influences life in other interrelated reference points of reality. Keep in mind that self-aware life permits freedom of choice in the creating efforts of all members. Life in no plane of self-awareness known to us is predestinated or "cast in concrete" .Yet patterns of activity in one plane must not be permitted to destroy patterns of reality in others, even though there is a flow-through of awareness and vitality from one plane of awareness to another.

Consciousness between planes of reality is controlled through the personalities, of visible awareness, we refer to as angels. God, The Source, does not rule from a throne from which He points a finger of fire or extends a palm of peace. All reality is expressed, created, controlled, expanded and re-expanded, through the expression of life in personalities evolved out of that Inner Source of all life. Certain of the personalities evolved out of that central being are expressed in the role assigned to those we refer to here as angels. Life is not simply a random result of universal laws allowed to run blind. All evolvement follows patterns of universal laws; however, freedom of personalities to create or destroy, must be contained within, and held subject to, those same universal laws.

Whether we prefer to refer to these personalities who provide the cementing together and control as Seraphim, Cherubim, Archangels, and Angels, or if we prefer to think of them as Super-souls who guide the processes of vast dominions of reality, makes no difference. We need to comprehend, however, that universal forces do not run amuck across inter- planes of reality. Vast minds of self-aware, giant personalities do guide the patterns set in the webbing of reality.

As to the role of Guardian Angels let us say this. Many personalities play varied roles in the effort to assist, to guide and to co-ordinate lives and efforts to reach the goals of persons within the physical earth-life. This influence may be highly desirable, or it may not be in harmony with the goals assigned from the High-soul of that personality. The first order of business in any life should be to comprehend the desired direction of one's personal lifetime as assigned from the High-soul. Once you have sought out the desired flow and direction of your own life within the inner mind, follow that leading, accept that assistance, that guidance which seems to be in harmony with your own inner guiding mind and soul. But only then should you accept that which may seem to be from your guide. Always, always remember to seek out the flow of life from within the inner cathedrals of your own mind first. The riverbed of life will then provide the direction along which your life should flow ...and angels may well be your guides.
