The Aspen fuse contains a Hitec Focus III receiver (case removed) and
FMA FS-80 servos, and a 110 mah nicad battery pack.  The flying weight
is about 8.5 ounces after discus launch mods.  The discus launch mods
consist of glueing 1/8" strips of carbon fiber on the leading edge of the
mica film coverred tail (see next photo) and a throwing peg installed in
the wingtip.

This is the Aspen/Skeeter after a discus throwing peg was installed in the
wingtip.  If you look closely you can see it.  I've discus thrown this Hand
Launch Glider many times.  My best javelin throw was around 45 feet
high.  Sixty to sixty-five feet is common when I'm throwing discus style.

I'm executing a slight pullup, which explains the nose up attiutde.

The throwing peg.makes it easy to grasp the wingtip during the launch.

New Discus Tail.
  -
After about 50 discus launches with the vee tail, the carbon boom split down it's full length.
I replaced the boom and built an x - tail similar to my Sidewinder. The boom is an Avia 220
and the tail surfaces are 1/16" balsa.  Weight is now 9 ounces RTF due to some repair work
on the wing.   7-21-2001
