What the hell?
The true meaning of GLB songs.

Float
This song was written in the summer of 2000, at Jimmy Troxell's house. It was never meant to make much sense to anyone. All in all, it is just about the euphoric feeling of live music. You know I'm jonesin' for the beat that's in my feet. Plain and simple, stupid.

Haley's Eyes
I don't know any girls named Haley, nor have any mesmorized me with their ocular powers. It is a simple song about love and loss. Even though it is very cheesy, it turned out to be one of the best recorded tracks on our album.

Admiration
Okay, so it isn't REALLY about admiring your damn windows OR wife............but the point I'm trying to make is...we used some weird sound on the album during the bridge part, called "Goblins" but eventually took it off the final cut because it scared Troxell. Plus, Troxell wanted to call it "Micheal & E.T. Passionately Embrace While E.T. Smokes His Finger."

Russian Song
People have often asked me why it is called "The Russian Song". First, I make fun of them because there is no "the" in "russian song," then I kindly explain to them that our song names go through a complicated phase of evolution. When first writing songs, we will refer to them at practices by the way they feel or by who has written them (hence "Jeff's Song"). Russian Song had a style to it towards the end that reminded me of Tetris, so we all just began calling it that, and the name stuck. The lyrics themself are about these pills I used to take when I was insane.

Water From Your Hands
This song was originally written about a party I attended. We all got real stoned and the fine line between reality and imagination became very blurred. I guess I tried to convey that within these lyrics, but it turned out kinda shitty.

Jeff's Song
Lyrics were written just minutes before they were recorded. They don't mean anything. But still, Jeff loves you, kids.

Way Down North
The song itself just sounds like a party, so I wanted to depict a place where everything is crooked and screwed up. The name itself, Way Down North (formerly known as Optimus), makes no sense, which is the way I wanted it. Saw 3 angels outside my door, I gave them hell and they begged for more. It's a crazy world out there!!

Syphilitic Iguana
If you don't know what this song is about, welcome to the club.

9-Ball Monkey
It's about Devon Bond. Look at that kid, he's a monkey. Not much more to it.

Return
Return (also known as the Dick-tease Song) was written, along with a batch of other songs, during the end of my freshman year of college. It is a song about many things, but mainly about love. This is our most cliche' rock song we have, and we cherish it deeply. Plus, Terry Houser and Eric Yowaiski love it more than we do.

Everything Undone
Although not often played, it is requested a lot. Why the hell do you guys want to hear it? It's like I went to Emo-School for a week, and wrote this for my senior thesis, damn. Picture this: no worlds, no universe, no life or death, no humans, absolutely nothing. That's what this song is about. It is also commonly referred to as "The Nintendo Song."

Cock-Knocker
Another song that isn't played very often, Cock-Knocker depicts the life of an old man who lives down the block from me, Fred. He is always telling us how the government did tests on him, how he's been abducted and whatnot...frankly he weirds us out. So this one is for you, Fred.

Alive Tonight
This was originally written during the Ribbit days, but never really began to take shape until the summer of 2002. Whenever we practice at Jeff's garage, some old lady always comes to bang on the window to tell us to stop playing. She even goes as far as to call the cops on us, but we have no where else to practice. So this song is a big "KISS MY ASS" to that old bag.

Everybody (shut the fuck up)
Written by Tim Alles a long long time ago. Also never took form until the summer of 2002. Read and re-read the lyrics of this song (on the "lyrics" page of the website) and tell me what you think the song is about. I honestly have no idea. All I know is, the last verse, the part about the blue carebear. That part was written by myself, Jeff, Laura Greenholt, and Tim. We sat in Jeff's garage one night and each wrote a word, and then passed the notebook to the next person until one strange stanza had been complete.

Slow is the Night
One of the songs from the 2002 batch, Slow is the Night is a song that basically says, "don't let life pass you by."

Dustpan & Broom
A song for the heart-broken. A reaching-out for the hopeless. A sad, sad tune.

Johnny's Favorite Island
I let my imagination run wild and this is where I ended up. Is closely related to the song "Raphael", but you'll find out about that later.

House Party
If you read the lyrics, it will basically sum up the song. Went to a party with Tim, and he got so trashed that he passed out in the woods and we couldn't find him for 2 hours. He called me the next day, a few hours before the gig to tell me to pick him up. I was pissed, but now I laugh heartily when I think about it. HAHA AHAA <-hearty laugh
