Guidance from
the Gita
(volume 1)

a book by Yasodha Sundaralingam

May Gita light the lamp of wisdom in every individual.
Preface:

This publication is a commendable and welcome effort by a sincere student of Vedanta who loves Lord Krishna as her constant companion in her heart and later found unfailing enchantment in His immortal words.  It is this love for wisdom that prompted her to communicate what is found in the GITA with her fellow aspirants.

Vedanta Foundation takes true satisfaction in publishing this title as it serves the very objective of our vision, which is to grow together in love and wisdom.

Author's Note:

Salutations to my Teachers:
His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda
His Holiness Swami Dayananda
His Holiness Swami Tatwananda

The teaching of the Srimad Bhagawad Gita are universal and do not belong to any particular time, place, creed or society.  The Gita teaches the infinity and divinity of the Self in all.  I am deeply grateful to my teachers for all that I have understood of Srimad Bhagawad Gita.

Blessed were the days when Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda visited Sri Lanka annually for discourses on Gita and the Upanishads.  He inspired and invoked in us the urge to become seekers of Truth.  He understood our need for a teacher and sent his disciple Swami Tatwananda to reside in Sri Lanka and impart the wisdom of our scriptural teachings.

I was truly blessed when His Holiness  Swami Dayananda, the compassionate Teacher, made arrangements to send the "Home Study Course of Gita" in 1989, on a regular basis for this student living in Lyon-France.

Words cannot describe the blessedness of being a student of Swami Tatwanandaji.  He is a teacher who demands independence for himself as well as for his students.  How does one show to one's teacher the gratitude for his love and patience in making the subject matter clear to the students?  It is only by living true the wisdom gained.

I am very grateful to all my loved ones, who with abundance of affection, gave their time and unstinted help, without which this book would not have been what it is now.
