33 weeks
7 weeks to go

I've learned a lot in the past 24 hours...and been confused a lot too. On Saturday morning, Chris's parents came down to see us.  While Chris and his dad prepared for the low country boil  they were gonna cook later that evening, Donna and I went to get a pedicure. We got back and everything was normal for a while. We sat around the food boiling outside and read the paper, talked, etc. I got up to look for something inside the house and I felt very strange--my entire butt area was drenched.  The seat of the chair was drenched. The area below the chair was wet too.  I didn't feel ANYTHING escape me. I only felt a little dampness like you would feel when you sit on damp ground. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got up.  Needless to say, we all freaked, as we all wondered if my water had broken early.
I stayed pretty calm for a while, when I called the doctor's office to get the emergency number, as it was Saturday...then I started freaking because the "emergency" number didn't work. No one was answering...my mother and father in law came in and said they thought we should run to the hospital just to make sure all was well.
We got to the emergency room and had to answer a zillion stupid questions for the computer files. Example?  "Do you own a house or rent?"  Like that has anything to do with ANYTHING!
They took me, on a stretcher, to a room in Labor and Delivery. On the way in, there was a birth going on in the room to my right. I was scared. I didn't want to have Luke this early. His lungs need to develop more.
           I tried not to panic.
To make a long story short, they did lots of tests, including doing an ultrasound to measure the amnio fluid and stuff like that which came up A-OK. They also gave me three shots of something to make my contractions stop. I kept asking, "But those are Braxton Hicks, right? Not real contractions?"
The nurse kept saying, "Braxton Hicks ARE contractions."   Well I knew that, but why make them stop? Isn't that a normal part of pregnancy? I didn't want to seem stupid, so I just shut up.
I realized, when I was being checked for dilation, that I need to find a relaxation technique, cuz just squeezing Chris's hand did not cut it!  Poor guy---when the lady said, "Nope, you aren't dilated! That's good!" Chris said, "I think I'm dilated now!" (After seeing me squirm so much and yell once.  Yikes.)  The diagnosis was a bladder spasm. (I found out that my mom's friend had one of these while she was pregnant too---she soaked her car though and was alone.)  I am very thankful this didn't happen at school!
They gave me instructions not to work until I see my regular doc on Wednesday (just to make sure) so now (it's Tuesday and it's taken me a few days to get this written because of my back pain) I'm just hanging around the house being all low-stress jen.
           Gotta run. Back hurtin' again....ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH
