Description of of The egServer

The e-mail Gio Server (egServer) pop up two years ago, because I need of a small unix server which can download data from the university. You simply send an email to egServer, and it starts the download (using a .forward trick).
It works under Unix (tested under HPUX and Linux).

For the moment, egServer do not use any crypto engine. I will add pgp support when possible.

It is not a state-of-the-art program, but you can use it even in small machines, because it is implemented like a simple sh-script using only simple commands like grep, cut, cp, cat etc

Special egServer Features

The egServer is pumpware (®?) It means egServer uses a lot of powerful tecnology for realizing some simple tasks. You can think pumpware is aware of Murphy Laws, and fight against it using the best IT instruments available :)

In deatil egServer uses:

  1. Autoconf configure script for checking existence of requested commands, and in particular of the wget command.
  2. CVS repostory for revision control
  3. (not yet) SGML usage for generating html/ps/info documentation
  4. (not yet) PGP usage for crypting passwords and so on.

egServer is distributend under the GNU Public License 2 altrought it'd be possible to be OpenSource.
