Ahh, curling up with a good book. Flipping through the pages to discover "whodunit" in an intruging mystery, getting lost in a historical piece or witnessing two forbidden lovers as they fall in love.
Writing and publishing a book is a lengthy process, and several local authors will share their experiences to the public in a new author series at the Center Line Public Library. Local writers Jerry Stanecki, Gina Becker and Nancy Feldbush are scheduled to showcase their latest projects in March and April.
"I wanted to have a series of programs to highlight local authors," Library Director Cathy Russ said.  "I wanted to give local people and first-time authors a chance to promote their books," Russ said, "I think a libraray is a good place to show things like this."
Stanecki will discuss his book "Life Is A Joke And God Wrote It" March 7.  Becker will share her book "Secrets That You Keep" March 26, and Feldbush will talk about her book "Walking In The Midst" April 11.
Russ hopes to feature a fourth author in April or May, and is still working out the details. "I think it is courageous to write a book",  said Russ, adding that authors take a chance not knowing whether or not their work will be accepted.
Along with talking about their books, the budding writers will discuss with audience members the process they underwent to get their works published.
The author programs begin at 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome. There is no cost to attend.
Becker's oldest daughter encouraged her to get something published after reading a story her mom wrote about a young girl dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence.
"I've always loved to read and write," Becker said. A single mother of four, she attributes her passion for writing, her familys's encouragement and life experiences as her main inspirations to write.
Her book, "Secrets That You Keep," a contempoarary romance/suspense novel, takes readers on a young woman's journey as she falls in love with her best friend's new boyfriend, Tom.
Ten years later, while serving as an ER doctor, Rachel is confronted by an FBI agent and learns that Tom has been missing for a week. Rachel soon discovers that Tom is married, has a villa in Mexico, and has been selling drugs and laundering drug money through his manufacturing plant in Detroit.
Circumstances lead Rachel to a missionary Indian village in the Sierra Madre Mountains where she finds the love and belonging she has been yearning
for.
