Gina Mashburn, a Master of   Music candidate at Boston   University's School for the Arts,   is a versatile and experienced   musician.
     Mashburn received a   Bachelor of   Music in Viola   Performance from the  North   Carolina School of the Arts. As   a student there, she studied   with  Ulrich Eichenhaeur and   Sally Peck.  She frequently sat   Principal Viola of  the school's   symphony and opera   orchestra. While living in North   Carolina, she was a member of   the Winston-Salem,   Greensboro, Western   Piedmont, and Salisbury   Symphonies.
     Gina Mashburn has taught privately for over ten years. She was offered a position as a member of the faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts pre-conservatory division. She is currently co-coordinator of the strings department of the Arts Education for Children Group on Maui, Hawaii.
     Mashburn has performed frequently as a solo and chamber musician and has freelanced extensively across the Southeast. She has won scholarships in the competitions of the MacDowell Music Club and the Asheville Symphony. Mashburn has been named Assistant Principal of the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony and Assistant Concert Mistress of the Western Regional Honors Orchestra of North Carolina. She subsequently won the position of Principal Viola of this ensemble, as well as the North Carolina All-State Orchestra and the Charlotte Youth Symphony.
     Gina Mashburn has participated in several festivals, such as the Ithaca College Chamber Music Festival, the Indiana University Chamber Festival, the Eastern Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival, where she studied with the renowned Heidi Castleman. Mashburn currently studies with Michelle LaCourse. Her other teachers have included Victoria Chiang, Jeffrey Irvine, Michael Hining, Mark Ottesen, Seane Chang, Dean Stein, Jamie Crawford, Corrine Cook, and Dr. Ernest Periera. She has performed in master classes with distinguished artists such as Erwin Schiffer, Peter Slowick, Victor Danchenko, and Janet Bookspan. Mashburn has studied with accomplished chamber musicians Raphael Hillyer, Marcy Rosen, Ulrich Eichenhauer, Sally Peck, Joseph Schwartz, and Mark Schroeder.
