Days 6 & 7
We were at Gettysburg for days 6 & 7.  We started out by finding a camping spot when we got into town.  Stopped at Artillery ridge first, what a dive.  Didn't like the camping spots at all.  Decided to go to Little Round Top and found some decent sights for a lot less money.  So we camped out for 2 nights there.

As part of the first day we were in town we decided to walk around the historic district of downtown.  There were a lot of old buildings, even one that still had over 150 bullet holes in the outside of the wall still visiable.  Many buildings erected around the 1830's and some before that.  We went to the Civil War museum and did some shopping.  We had parked downtown and walked.  It's not all that far from where much of the battles took place and the town square.

The second day we did the Auto Tour.  We decided to buy the 3 hour self guided tour CD.  That turned into an all day thing.  There are a lot of monuments out there in the fields and we didn't even get to stop and look at them all, even after about 7-8 hours.  We retired to the campgrounds for some tinfoil dinners and relaxing in front of the fire a little earlier than other nights.  It gets dark out early.  On another note, the Minnesota monument was neat.  I did not know that Minnesota pledged the first regiment to the civil war before any other state and that they were a cruicial part of the last days battle.  262 men held off a 1000 man regiment on that day.
