Welcome to my little corner of the world
...located in northwest Michigan where the quality of life attracts artists and others looking for a slower paced life style, yet abundant with natural resources and cultural events at hand.  We, Ron Gianola and Pam Yee, live in the woods on a river in a rural community, but are only minutes away from Lake Michigan, the National Lakeshore Park (Sleeping Bear Dunes), Interlochen Center for the Arts and Traverse City.
My husband is a multi-talented man.  He is a DIY home improvement guy who remodeled our home resulting in art studios for each of us in a very cozy place on a private road.  He is a landscape oil painter, a drummer, a self-employed engineer who works in his studio on a CAD station designing special machine tools, draws architectural renderings and has worked as a mural/restoration painter for New Millennium Inc.  Who else could live in the solitude of the woods, breathing clean air and working for customers here and there?
We enjoy manuevering our kayaks down the upper Platte River, gliding down the lower Platte, skimming around the shores of inland lakes with the wildlife, paddling on Lake Michigan on calm days and on rare occasion, "surfing" on Lake Michigan, the warm wind whipping the waves into foam and the hot sun beating down on us.
I like to garden, cook, bird watch and create.  Knitting,  willow chair making, basket weaving, beading,  book making, calligraphy,  image transfers, paste paper, paper marbling, photography, stamping, collage, writing and organizing (parties, all my high school reunions) have been part of my life through the years.  Being a consummate recycler, I've found that Altered Books go hand in hand with recycling.  I was a Board member of the Traverse Area Arts Council (TAAC) and Citizens for Positive Planning (CPP), a grass roots organization working with County government to preserve the past while planning for the future.  I am a charter member of  the ISABA International Society of Altered Book Artists and  current President.  I teach at the ArtCenter and at Crystal Lake Art Center
