Alexander Bennie kindly supplies names from a postcard featuring Clyde players who served during the early years of the war.

It includes the names:

W. McAndrew. 17th Highland Light Infantry.
J. Grant. Army Service Corps.
T. Cranston. Private, Black Watch.                                                  Killed in action in Iraq 13.January 1916.
I. Mackenzie.
P. Allan.
M.M.G. (Motor Machine Gun units?) Made appearances for Fulham.
F. Thompson. M.T.S.
S.Scoular.
W.M.Sharp.
1st Batt Royal Scots.  
Died in Pas de Calais 12.3.1915 (probable)
J. McRae.  Cpl. Made appearances for West Ham 1918-19 & 21.

Clunas Charles. 1068 Lance Corporal,
23rd Royal Fusiliers.             Son of John and Flora Clunas, 9 Thompson Avenue Johnstone, Renfrewshire. Died in Pas de Calais 8.2.1916. Buried in Windy Corner, Guards Cemetry, Cuinchy. (II.K.6). (Pas de Calais held many hospitals.)

Enlisted at outbreak of war, badly wounded in 1915.  Miner post war.
Played for Bolton,West Ham, Brighton, Dundee, Clyde (twice) Carlisle, Celtic, Wishaw, Albion Rovers, Abercorn, and Broxburn.

Cpl John Quinn.  Played for Southampton 1916-18.
Also Manchester City, Manchester Utd, Chorley, Eccles,
Grimsby and Clyde.
