The Storm
By: Georgia Porter
April 2003

I sit huddled on the shore
Staring out at the gathering clouds
Watching as they swirl ever closer,
dark and threatening
Waiting for the first sting of the cold rain
and the lask of the heavy wind to pummel my body with blows
I look for shelter from the coming storm and find none.
The storm and I are one as it surges onshore and I absorb it into myself.
I let it wash over and through me not resisting its power...
Knowing that the pain and the fury of it shall pass through me
Without harming my soul  or robbing me of spirit.
I lay back as the last of the clouds pass over my hed.
Spent.
I stretch my arms outward to the sun and its warmth
And I smile....
Hi ... welcome to my little home on the web. My name is Georgia Porter. I live in Rocky Point, NC. A tiny little spot on the map right outside of Wilmington,NC. I am married to Mitchell, and have 3 children...18,16 and 14. The oldest is a freshman at Appalachian State  University this year.
I am currently battling metastic cancer. It has been a long tough road and the journey is not over yet.  This page is part knitting blog and part poetry corner. Knitting and writing poetry are the ways that I cope with the fear and pain that make cancer so hard to fight.
I knit for friends, family and most especially for the babies at the local hospital. Reaching out to others is what keeps me from going insane and helps me more than it does the babies and their families for sure.  I will share my works in progres and we can all rejoice together when a finished object comes along.
I also want this to be a place where i can share my poetry. My poems are my way of letting go of the hurt and pain and fear that cancer creates. They have a great deal of meaning to me and I truly hope that you will read with understanding and get the same measure of comfort from them that I did as I wrote them. You may use them freely with the following caveats: All of the poems are copyrighted to me...so please respect that. You may print them, post them on your site, hand them out at a meeting etc...but you cannot sell them or use them for profit in any way shape or form..other than that enjoy!
Love and light for the journey,
Georgia
