Georgia's Knitting Blog
April 8, 2008
Hi everyone,
This is going to be a tiny update.
The baby dress is finished. YAY! It came out really well. I have the Knitting Garden Sweater done but not sewn but it will get stitched together in the next day or so I hope.  As a personal update, I saw a new pain management specialist today.  Very nice. He doubled all the meds I am on...lol.  I explained the pain I was in and he decided the previous levels werent adequate...so we will see. I managed a short and blessedly pain free nap this afternoon.  That brings me to 6 hours of sleep in the past few days. With God's help I will sleep tonight .  and Mitchell the DH will be able to sleep as well....check out the new poem on the poetry page..

March 23, 2004...
How to start a knitting blog???hmm I knit for other people 90% of the time and make things for me the other 10%. I do a good deal of my knitting for the babies at the local hospital. The preemies in the NICU and the regular  newborn nursery as well. Anyone who like to donate some of their stash yarn to this project, please send an email...these garments are given to the families...they are never charged for them.  The only exception is a set that I got the yarn for and donated it to the volunteers gift shop specifically to be sold.  I know that there are some charities that charge for donated items ...I wouldnt work for one of those. I do this as my own project, not affiliated with any group. I knit as my health and yarn budget allows...I average 10 or 15 sets( hats and booties) puls a few other pieces  a month. Get the yarn from the sale bin at the LYS or at A.C. Moore. We are going to get a Michael's Craft Store in April so I am excited to see what kind of yarn I can  get there as well.
I knit to get away from all the bad things in my life....cancer and pain. I have a long post about knitting your way through cancer at the
Knitters Review Forum so please check it out. I do mainly hat and bootie sets but have done a few sets of hat, sweater and booties, 3 or 4 baby afghans and 2 sets of hat, sweater, booties and afghan.  I just finished making an Easter dress for my adorable baby niece, 6 mos old last week. I did it from the Berocco pattern called Alexa Bernadette. I will rush in and substitute yarn where angels fear to tread...so I made it with Lion Brand Homespun in the Gazebo (pink and purple) colorway as the main color and Bernat's Baby Boucle in a very pale pink as the accent for the stripes and collar. I would be thrilled to use all the expensive yarn if I could afford it but I cant so instead of not knitting I have taught myself about yarn weight and learned how to substitute and still have the object turn out pretty true to the original. The little dress is adorable and  turned out really well I think. I just need to add a ribbon for the sash and then I can send it off to my sis in RI. I will post a pic of the beautiful baby wearing the dress as soon as I can get my hands on one.
On the needles now: 1)an intarsia sweater, i never realized yarn could tangle so much in such a small space,  for my 4 yr old niece. the sweater pattern is from
Knitting Garden and I am using the intarsia cat pattern from the Winter 2004 issue of Knit It, Using the Homespun Yarn in Sunshine for the sweater and in Modern(shadesof blue and green and purple) for the cat.  It is slow going but I am enjoying learning a new technique.. 2) a square  made from Imagine in the Blue on Blue colorway to make the heartstrings bunny for my 4 yr old nephew for Easter.have 2 more of these to go in both will be done in Paton's Divine in richest rose for the little girl nieces, 3) a tank top, from  the Simple Sweaters from Luxurious Yarns book for me in Bandolero ribbon yarn in a french blue color, I got it really cheap on Ebay....word to the wise...ribbon yarn is a PAIN to work with...lol. It tends to twist and roll and tangle like crazy...but once you have done a few rows of St st...it is so beautiful that it is truly worth the extra effort required ,4) a shawl in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino in a rich nutmeg color, a gift from my lil sis in Rhode Island, ...I finally learned to knit holes...I am so proud...haha who would think I would like making holes so much when the ones from dropped stitches make me say words I shouldnt, and 5) a baby set (whole 9 yards) in the Jamie baby pompadour white with the white rayon shiny thread running through it and 6)a set of hat and booties made from the Bernat Softee Baby yarn in the His Jeans Ombre colorway...it is white and a denim blue, a lighter denim blue and a mint green varigated yarn. It is working up really cute.  I would love to know what all of you are working on right now and whether or not you work like me with several projects going at once or do you work on one at  a time?  Just looking at that list I must be the Knitting ADD Poster Child...oh well...at least I don't get bored.  I will try to get the DH to do some pics of FO's as I get them finished and post them in this section so y'all can see them.

Love and Light for your journey,
