The Southern Sections

HIKE #1 - SATURDAY, APRIL 13, 2002 - This week's hike runs through Niagara-on-the-Lake and stretches from the South Terminus of the trail, at Queenston Heights, to the QEW exit at County Road 101. We hiked a total of 11.5 km today. Well, some people hiked further than that, for a total of 13 km.

HIKE #2 - SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2002 - This hike starts in Woodend Conservation Area, still in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and ends at Brock University in St Catharines, for a total of 16.2 km.

HIKE #3 - SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2002 - This hike starts at Brock University in St Catharines and ends in Rockway Falls, for a total of 17.4 km.

HIKE #4 - I was unable to attend the hike this week, but hopefully I will be able to go back and hike this one later. The hikers that attended this 22-kilometer hike divided it in two, and those who didn't want to hike the entire length could stop partway through. This hike started at Rockway Falls and ended at Cave Springs, with Balls Falls as the halfway point. (Well, close enough - the halfway point was 11.3 km.)

HIKE #5 - SUNDAY MAY 18, 2002 - This hike starts in Cave Springs and ends in Beamer Memorial Conservation Area, in Grimsby, for a total of 14.9 km.

HIKE #6 - SATURDAY MAY 26, 2002 - This hike starts in Grimsby, at the start of the Iroquoia section of the trail, and ends in a place called the Devil's Punch Bowl, for a total of 19.1 km.

HIKES #7 to #14 - I was unable to attend these hikes, but I hope to go back and complete these hikes later. These hikes complete the Iroquoia and Toronto sections of the Bruce Trail, and continues into the Caledon Hills section.

HIKE #15 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 11, 2002 - This hike starts near Palgrave, in the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail, and ends at Mono Mills, for a total of approximately 20 km. For this hike, the people who didn't want to hike the entire distance started about a third of the way up, and hiked approximately 14 km.

HIKE #16 - I was unable to attend this hike. Hopefully I will be able to complete this hike at some point in the future. This hike starts at Mono Mills and ends at Mono Centre, the end of the Caledon Hills section, for a total of approximately 16 km.

HIKE #17 - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 31, 2002 - This hike starts at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park in Mono Centre, at the start of the Dufferin Hi-Land section of the Bruce Trail, and ends close to Highway 89, for a total of 11.0 km. (We decided to do a short hike this time, as this is our last organized hike of the season, and we needed to save some of our energy for the post-hike celebration.)
