Jesus, I Never Knew It Was You
Jesus, I Never Knew It Was You

The big church sale began today

So I had to bake

Cookies, candy and some bread

Things for me to take.

As I busied with my chores

I heard a little knock

With flour head to toe I found

Jenny Jones from down the block.

"My Momma has no food today

And I would like a bite

Of a cookie or a glass of milk

A piece of bread would be alright.

I'm sorry but I haven't time

To fool with you today

The big church sale will soon begin

So please - now go away.

Then I hurried bout my work

I took it down to sell

But the long hot day and all the work

Did not turn out so well.

So that night, I asked Him

Lord why weren't you there?

We need so many things for church

And we know that you care.

And so the Lord, He said to me

I was with you today

I told you that a glass of milk

Or piece of bread would be okay.

I said "Oh Lord, I'm sorry.

I never knew that it was you."

You know that I am willing

To do all you ask me to."

Then tenderly, He told me

My precious child, you see

When you it not to the least of These

You did it not, to me.
