This war had separated families and broken up homes. Gerald Watkins is presently incarcerated in Canon City Colorado at the Four Mile Correctional Facility. He is serving a 14-year sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. He took a plea for 2nd degree assault. Our attorney recommended we take this plea. We later found out the attorney lied to us on many issues. I know, “that’s what they all say” BUT I think you will see that what I am showing you is the truth after you read all the facts of the case. I am a criminal justice major and that my X is a lieutenant on a large city police department. I do know that there are many women who are victims of domestic violence. I do not nor does my husband condone a man hitting a woman. We both also believe that a man who does do this should be punished. Now, another thing I want you to realize is that a man can also be the victim of domestic violence. The percentage is much lower but it has been found in many studies that there are many more male victims then most people think. In most cases, they are to scared or embarrassed to report or when they do, they are not believed. The man is brushed off and wounds are believed to be caused by a woman “defending herself”. This country has become so protective of “ the battered woman” they haven’t stopped and look to see if she is really battered. People lie all the time about many things; to control friends, coworkers and yes, even spouses. The question of the day is, if a woman is upset at her husband, I mean very upset, she wants to keep him from going away. Or maybe visiting his lover, what better way to punish him or keep him from leaving then to have him arrested for domestic violence. In some states and cities, there doesn’t have to be any evidence for a woman to have her husband arrested for this. This is what happened to Gerald. Sandra feared he was leaving her. When he did go out the door, she called to have him arrested. That is what started this whole mess. The big green jealousy monster took her over and now many lives are devastated because of these lies. The kicker is, she had every agency in the city of Colorado Springs helping her and encouraging her. No one in any of these agencies even investigated her allegations. So before I go any further, read the facts and the actual reports for the case. Then you judge what the truth is. |
