Organizational Support

A new service in Egypt that talks to managers and consultants in many industries: urban planning, marketing, environment, governmental authorities, GIS software sellers, surveying and mapping, Telecom, etc.

GS provides its new and unique GIS Organizational Support to those who seriously need GIS technology to do their jobs but don't wish to bother about its logistics, employment, and other irrelevant issues that drain managers' time and minds while it could be outsourced in an inexpensive small projects.

Typically, the organizations asking for such service are with some GIS capacity. They have good experience with the projects and know how complex it is to reach certain goals and need us to help with our expertise and resources for some implementation of their running GIS projects.

For instance, if Organization ABC contracts GS for a certain digital map (image processing, data entry, digitizing, etc.), GS determines how many man-days necessary to finish it for specified deliverables. ABC pays only for the time agreed with a fixed preset amount.

ABC doesn't need to worry about:

	place, digitizers, equipment, etc (available in GS premises)
	quality of technicians of digitizing, datamapping and surveying
	delays in project don't mean increase in costs or decrease in quality
	employing new highly qualified specialists for specific temporary projects
	diversity of skills and qualities of specialists meaning you can change one worker for another highly-skilled one so easily if ABC manager likes to
	Geoprocessing tasks: fixing faulty coordinates, registering datamaps together, producing new special datamaps based on GIS analysis of another, (other non-datamapping tasks)

GIS Organizational Support Services

Plotting

This is a service of plotting maps (mapreports). It involves the following:

	Plotting in any number of either solid (eg, satellite images and solid color areas) or non-solid colors on maps sizes up to A0 (120x85cm).
	The design and cartography of maps on ArcView 3 layout tools (with up to 3 drafts and revisions)

Datamapping

This service is priced by man-months with minimum of half man-month. It involves all sorts of data-entry of geographic nature and its related quality control procedures.

It doesn't include any data coordinates fixing, plotting of any sort of maps and other services that are outlined below

Geoprocessing

This service is priced by man-days with minimum of 1 man-day. Assignments deliverables and methodologies will be planned and agreed upon in a meeting before work starts. Assignments include but are not limited to:

	changing coordinate systems of certain datamaps
	work out some common coordinate systems
	some remote sensing and image processing tasks
	field work for remote sensing, data collection, etc.
	applying Ground (or Map) Control Points on an image of a map or remote sensing or datamap
	generating new information from another datamap
	fixing datamaps databases problems
	etc.

Parts of the assignment that has data-entry, data-checking or any part that cannot be processed by scripting languages and needs manual interference in database contents will be treated as part of Datamapping service (please see datamapping above)

GIS Consulting

Specific consulting tasks with clear TOR (terms of references) that are strategy or strategic-operations related. This includes but are not limited to:

	business cases development for GIS roll-out in an organization
	estimation, documentation and presentation of the costs of GIS technology adoption and specifications
	Writing RFP (request for proposals)
	acting on behalf of a manager in purchasing strategic equipment
	analysis and design of all GIS components: system hardware and software, applications, datamaps and related databases, staff training, etc.
