The Senaki Orphanage at Senaki in western Georgia cares for children ages four to 18 who also have disabilities. Children with physical disabilities, such as lost or malformed limbs, are housed together with children who have mental disabilities, such as mental retardation. Some of these children also have serious illnesses and are totally bedridden. They need clothing, shoes, and linens. The Senaki facility needs electrical rewiring and structural renovation. In addition, the orphanage director has requested one large cow for milk and for vocational training in dairy farming, as well as a garden to supplement the orphanage’s food resources. The orphanage staff has not been paid in 17 months, yet their commitment to these children fails to waver.
