December 16th 2000, the worst riot to date in Leposavic. Belgium soldiers were disarmed and held hostage for several hours. The station was fired on, vehicles outside the compound were burnt, station sustained heavy damage. Two local Serbs were killed and several others wounded. One 17 year old demonstrator died from gunshot wounds and one from heart attack when Soldiers open fired with gas and warning shots. We were evacuated to Mitrovica and did not return for 4 days.
