Hi and welcome to my travel web page. This page is all about me, Geoff Chapman. In September of 2002 I travelled to West Africa, to spend a year and a half in the Republic of The Gambia. I worked for the YMCA near Kanifing in Kombo, teaching computers sometimes, but mostly just exploring this crazy place. Generally speaking I had a great time. This was a pretty amazing and unique opportunity for me and I think I lived it up pretty well. I'm done with my trip and back now, so don't expect this site to keep on growing or anything. But if you'd like to know something about me, or something about Gambia feel free to explore. Most of my life over that year and a half is chronicled in the Log, and I think I put up around two hundred photos total. So go ahead and click on any of the links above to check out more my life. Hey everyone, this is it. It's finally come. The end of my Gambian Adventures website. It really had to come and seeing as I'm actually back home now, the time is up. I've put a final very large update on the Log page where I talk all about my trip to Sierra Leone and some stuff that's happened since then. It's kinda sad to shut this site down but hey; not to worry. Assuming I can get myself off to Ireland sometime (I'm aiming for October to December of this year) I'll probably start up something like this once again. But until then this is the end my friends. I hope you enjoyed the ride with me. 'Cause I sure liked writing about my times here. Thanks to everyone who read the site, feel free to drop me a line anytime.

Hi everyone, I'll bet you thought I'd droped off the face of the Earth... well I did, but I'm back now and ready to let you all in on what's been happing in my crazy life. Things have just been so busy over these past few weeks. I went to Sierra Leone, and then I came back to Gambia only to find I only had a few days before I had to go home for good. So I went a bit crazy and busted my hump trying to get things done before I left. Anyhow, I did it. Yup that's right, I finally did it. I'm gone, I've actually really really for real left Gambia! Crazy, eh? I'm in San Mateo, just outside of San Fran, staying with my folks. I'll let you all in on that asap, first though I'm gonna try to get my log updated and wrap things up here. Its been a crazy year and a half, and its finally over. It'll take me a day or two to get everything ready and up on the site here... So just give me some time and I'll let you in on it all, k. Cool. Also I've got a few more pics that I'll get online by tomorrow. Until then though, later kids.

Hey hey hey everyone... its me. I'm back, I'm here. I'm actually physically in The Gambia right now. It's been a really long time, but here I am. I had a totally amazing time in Mali and I'm really excited to let you all in on the good times. While I was away I wrote a paper journal that I'm in the process of transcribing and within a day or two should be posting online for everyone to read and become insanely jealous of me. But in the meantime I've got a treat for you lucky people. I've posted all of my photos already and you can look through them if you like. Once the journal gets up they'll probably make more sense, but until then you can marvel at how totally incredible Mali really is. Enjoy em. I had to split them up 'cause I posted almost 100 pictures. Hey everyone, well it's almost the big day. I leave for my month long trek in mali tomorrow and I'm evry excited. I've put a short update on the Log page, with a link to my itinerary. Hi people, I've made a decision about the whole website thing. I'm going to maintain both a diaryland accounbt and this web site. I realized that just having another site that was more blog oriented wouldn't really solve my problem. That being that I censor myself for the people who read the site. So I've started a Diaryland page and I'll be giving out the address to specific people who I want to read it. There are a few lines that I just feel uncomfortable crossing with everyone. I'm sorry its like that. I wish it wasn't. But I don't want to hurt anyones feelings or make anyone embarassed because of something I say on my site. I'm honestly not a delinquent, I'm not a bad person, but I don't think some people would be comfortable reading about my life as open as I live it. I'm not going to dwell on this though. If you're not included on the list of people don't take it too personally. It isn't that I don't like you or anything. Its just life. If you don't like it, write me an e-mail and complain. I'll definately listen to you.
This site is going to keep going though. And no, I'm not going to make it totally lame and boring all of a sudden. I'm still going to try to be more open here. I'm just not necessarity going to give all the details. Effectively most of the site is locked down. I'll probably only be adding to the Log as of now. Thanks for all your understanding people, I know this solution won't be perfect for everyone. Sorry, but that's how its gonna be. At least for now.
