Sometimes I think that there must be a  waking state that is similar to lucid dreaming, that state where we are hyper-conscious in our dreams. I want to call it "lucid thinking" or "lucid working," or even "lucid play." It comes to me when I am no longer thinking about work and the effort of accomplishing the task at hand; the right tools are being utilized in the right way in the right place at the right time.

I feel that in instructional design, the question should never be "how does this application work." It should never be about the software. Instructional design may not even be about technology per se. Good instructional design asks what goals are being sought and seeks to determine what are the best tools for achieving those goals.
