ignore

“It’s not right anymore.”

“Nothing’s ever right.”

“Well this isn’t right. You’re just… too young.”

“I’m an adult. I can make my own choices on who I want to be with.”

“You’re just a baby. I’m…”

“I don’t care about that. I just care about you.”

“That’s part of me. You can’t ignore the fact..”

Wade leaned in, silencing her with his long index finger. “Like I said, I don’t care about that.”

Gina stared into Wade’s eyes as he backed away from her and walked into her bathroom. She then heard the shower turn on. Letting out a disgruntled sigh, she walked into the bathroom and found Wade already soaping up his body. She gritted her teeth as she walked closer, “God, I hate him.”

He left the shower door slightly ajar, always an invitation for Gina to join in. Instead of walking in, she stood by the door and watched the water trail down Wade’s back. “Why are you in here?”

Wade faced her and smiled. Gina felt her knees go weak. “Because I always take a shower when I wake up.”

“Wade. Just… Why do you have to make this so hard for me?”

Wade shrugged, rubbing the bar of soap on his chest, “You’re making it harder on yourself. So, you’re forty years old. I’m nineteen. Who gives a fuck?” He watched Gina set her jaw, staring at the floor. He reached out, grabbing her arm and pulling her in, “Joining me or not?”

She fought him off and stepped out of the shower. Water dripped all over the floor as Gina steadied herself trying not to slip. “Fuck Wade! I know it doesn’t bother you, but it’s always on my mind. I can’t live with that.”

Wade turned off the water, leaning against the tiles. “I ain’t turning around if I walk out that door, Gina.”

“Good. Find someone your own age. Britney’s single, fuck her.”

“But I don’t want her! I want you!” Wade grabbed a towel and wiped the dripping water off his body.

“Why? I’m forty! I’m old.” She marched back into the bedroom and sat on the bed.

Wade followed after her, “God damnit, who cares? Do you feel like you’re forty?”

Gina bit her lip, still not able to look directly into Wade’s face. “Get out.”

He wanted to fight it more. He couldn’t walk out the door, knowing Gina didn’t really want to let him go. There was no fighting it, however. Once she set her foot down, he knew it was final. Giving into her ways, Wade slipped on a pair of jeans, “Fine.” He grabbed a shirt and put it on while running down the stairs.

Gina curled up on her bed, shedding tear after tear. She heard the slam of the front door and couldn’t believe it. Hollywood was full of fake people, Wade was the only one that hadn’t fallen into fame’s trap of false personas. Gina wanted him from the minute she laid eyes on him, and she got him. She couldn’t let go… until now. And even then, it hurt too much. She jumped off the bed, running down the stairs and out the door.

“Wade, come back.” She whispered as she ran down the drive way. She stopped once she saw.

Wade was gone.
