BONACCORSO

HELLO...

My name is Lloyd, I have been researching my family history since about 1985. Now your probably thinking that I should have alot done, but the truth is I've only been doing it in my spare time, which hasn't been plentiful the past few years.

I've collected about 1400 names for 11 generations. These are actually the ancestors of my children. So that includes ancestors of both my wife and I. I thought if I could get a good head start on it now, then, when I pass it on to them they will only have their spouses to research for their children.

At the present time the information that I have is mostly names and dates of people and events. There's not much in the way of biographies yet, though I do have some brief discriptions for a few people.

So you can see that I have plenty of work ahead of me still.

I am planning a little (well, likely much bigger than I will be expecting) project of my own, to give back to others who are researching. I have gained so much from others who found the time and interest to post information to help other amateur genealogists. I got the idea from someone who posted obituary notices from their local paper. It was from the town where I was born, and I was amazed that I was able to get info from his efforts, without having to travel back to the ole' homestead to go through newspapers. So, I have decided to post the Obituary Notices, Birth Announcements, and perhaps also the Engagement Announcements and Anniversary Annoucements. I realize with Engagement Announcements you have to take the info with a grain of salt, as it is possible for someone to announce their engagement, but then later, have the wedding called off. So those notices will only give a rough idea of marriages that were to take place (I'm sure most do, but just to keep in mind).

I plan to get started on it just as soon as time permits. The notices will be from "The Hamilton Spectator" in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where I live. Hopefully, this will help those whose research leads them here in Hamilton. I will try to cover every notice published in every issue since the newspaper started in 1846. (Boy, am I in for it :), I think it will be fun.) You will find the link for the notices below, but please be patient, I expect this will take some time to get up to date, after all, I will be starting over 150 years ago. So check back often, and if you are in a real big hurry, email me and I will see what I can do. I think I will work on putting together an index first so that people can at least see if the name they are looking for is there, then if time permits I will begin including the entire text of each entry.

I must say, though, it's been (and continues to be) alot of fun finding out about those who came before you.
