Piping Plover

ENDANGERED !

The Piping Plover's home is the beach. It has now been nearly totally destroyed.

It's a tiny bird who nests in the sand. Its eggs are sand-colored with dark brown spots. They are nearly invisible. And that has protected them from predators. But not against man. And specially man mounted on three and four wheelers... who carreen down the beaches destroying everything where they pass. specially the nests and eggs of that now nearly extinct little bird. There were less than 25 couples left in the Magdalen Islands which is the only place they are found in the Province of Quebec.

They are now catalogued as ENDANGERED by the Canadian Wildlife Service.
