EDUCATION

Doctor of Arts in government, sociology, economics and interdisciplinary social science from Idaho State University (1974). 
The D.A. is an interdisciplinary teaching degree created specifically for the training of faculty for higher education. The program features study in three academic disciplines, study in interdisciplinary topics, a supervised teaching internship in higher education, and comprehensive written and oral examinations in three academic disciplines. Idaho State University/ Carnegie Endowment "Doctor of Arts Fellow" for 1973-74.

Master of Arts in Teaching in community college education and political science from Mississippi State University (1972); additional graduate study in sociology (1969-72)
The M.A.T.  prepares professional staff for community college teaching and administration.

Bachelor of Arts in government from Millersville University of Pennsylvania (1968)

Certificate in community and regional planning from the Idaho State Planning and Community Affairs Agency and Idaho State University Government Research Institute (1974) and Certificate in International trade and development from North Carolina Central University (1995).

Post-graduate study in industrial and organizational behavior and marriage and family therapy, Springfield College (1985-88).

Additional post graduate study in anthropology, political science, geography, and education at Springfield College, East Tennessee State University, and Millersville University of Pennsylvania (1976-88).
