Gulf Coast Golden Needles

Hello...and welcome to the

Gulf Coast Golden Needles

an Affiliated Chapter of

The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc.

The purpose of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, a non-profit organization, is to “foster the highest standards of excellence in the practice of the art of embroidery through an active program of education and study and to preserve the heritage of the art of embroidery”.

Our chapter was approved in April 1994 and currently has over 40 members. Formal programs each month might include a project to stitch or a guest speaker. We also help our community with various Community Outreach programs. Members have the opportunity to participate in Correspondence Courses and to attend EGA seminars around the United States as well as in Texas.

The definition of embroidery is “Ornamental needlework, or art of producing such work”. The art form is endless - there are stitches and designs galore. One can chose to stitch on linen in every color of the rainbow or on canvas ranging from 10 count to 24 count per inch. Fibers range from cotton to metallic, from rayon to silk, and combinations of different fibers. The colors are unbelievable; with new ones are being added.

The ability to create a work of art with fiber, color, and imagination is limitless. Join our guild today and become a part of history for tomorrow! An annual fee of $35 ($15 for dual memberships) will bring you a monthly chapter newsletter and a quarterly magazine, NeedleArts, the official EGA Magazine.
