Now that you have hopefully read the above, now is on to the fun part:Installation. Basic soldering skills, and an iron of around 30 watts are needed. Since 10mhz is the best choice, I will be installing it. You will also need 2 pieces of wire about 3 inches long a piece, with stripped ends, and some needle nose pliers to remove the old crystal.
Circled in black beside the processor is the crystal to be removed. To remove it,grasp it at the short ends with the pliers and gently wiggle it back and forth and up and down, careful not to exert too much force, resulting in the board braking. To get to this, you will need to take the case off of your Gameboy Color, using a tri wing screwdriver, or as I did, use a small flathead screwdriver, using it carefully as not to strip the screws. It is also reccommended to take the screen ribbon cable loose. To do this, pull the grey tabs on opposite ends of the ribbon cable port and pull the up gently. This will allow easy disconnecting and reconnecting of the screen and less things to worry about when you are installing the new crystal.
Circled in black are the contact pads, the 2 to the left being the ones you will use to connect your crystal. You will now need to heat up your soldering iron, and head on to page 3.
