| DIY Clothing vs Hottopic |

| In the mix of halloween I feel it is only necessary to talk about wardrobe because people percieve you (most of the time) by the likes of your style of dress. Well, children I came across this very amusing article (which I will kindly keep anonymous) that argued about the DIY generation and the way the Gothic community has somewhat disowned the origins of the art of making your own garments. For those who do not know what DIY means let me break it down (Do It Yourself). Then there is this uttering of hottopic ruining the Goth culture among other retail Goth stores alike them. This is my take on it...Gothic people it shouldnt matter whether you bought a two hundred dollar PVC outfit from one store or made it from scratch in your own personal lab what is important here is that people are atleast embracing this lifestyle. Many years ago and still today walking down the street with a four row pyramid cuff was torture, 2005 and now almost everyone is wearing one. The beauty about retail Goth stores is that there is a choice for everyone. Whether you think it is right to buy retail or DIY it is still all beautiful in its own way. I have very strong beliefs for freedom in art and speech alike it shouldnt be shuned. I am not ashamed of who I am and the lifestyle I lead however I dont push my belief on anyone. Buying retail is not my sort of thing I buy it if it is truly unique in design, everything else in my closet I either cut the sleeves off or just thrown away. It all depends on your style people you have to see what best suits you and that should be all that matters in the end. -Rob Massive |
