G'day, welcome to my Euchre From Special K and Rummy From Special K and Canasta From Special K card game shareware page.
Euchre has been described as the greatest card game ever devised (arguably). It is popular all over the world.
EUCHRE is probably derived from the game 'Juker' which was played in Alsace. It reached the USA in the early 1800's, and in the 1850's it became the first game to use a Joker. In 1904 the US Playing Card Co. created a variant called 500.
Download the software that allows you to play against the computer here. Being so wide spread, there are very many different bidding styles and conventions. This version for Windows 95 and higher, includes options to play with most of these. It also supports most non-standard screen resolutions. I would love you to try it.
People who do not enjoy Euchre will certainly enjoy one of the eleven games contained within the RUMMY family of games. All of these card games are also available from this site. All of these RUMMY games are enjoyable and contain a different balance of skill and luck. RUMMY contains classic Rummy games, such as GIN RUMMY, 500 RUMMY, PINOCHLE RUMMY, KALUKI, OKLAHOMA GIN, MICHIGAN RUMMY.
This classic Canasta game plays in Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/XP. Canasta (and its variations) is one of the best known games in the world, and comes from the Rummy family of games. Canasta is the Spanish word for Basket and the card game evolved in Uruguay and Argentina in the mid 1940's. It became the most popular card game in America from 1948 and in Britain in the years 1950 to 1952.
The game has the advantage that it is enjoyable when played with two to six players, although it is classically played with four. The game shares the same objectives as all Rummy games - to meld your cards in to groups of three or more cards of the same rank, but in Canasta sequences are not allowed. In addition the major points are awarded to achieving groups of 7 or more cards in a meld (called a Canasta). I owe a debt of gratitude to many of the users of this game who have helped to enhance it. In particular, I would like to thank Alan Martin of Two Rocks, Western Australia for help in improving it.
The games of Canasta, Rummy and Euchre are recognised as being the best in their class. They run in Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, and XP.
Enjoy......
