COMMUNITY GARDENS
HOME
The club prepares and manages land which is generously provided by St. Johns Lutheran Church for the purpose of community gardening.  Local gardeners are able to rent small plots on which to grow their vegetables or flowers.  We also encourage youth gardening for individuals and groups, where some of the food is grown to support food for the hungry programs.  The Community Gardens, located on the west side of Garfield Avenue just north of the Water Tower at Condell Hospital, are open to the community for a small fee.  If you would like more information about a garden plot please contact either Tony or Janet via email at: TKIRCH30@aol.com or call at 847-816-8007.

Attention Youth Group Leaders
The Gardeners of Central Lake County extends an invitation to area Youth Group Leaders to participate in our recently expanded Community Gardens which includes areas for Youth Gardens.  The Gardens are located in Libertyville on land generously donated by St. John's Lutheran Church.  (on the west side of Garfield Ave. just North of Water Tower near Austin.)

The Youth Garden is designed to offer parents or youth leaders an opportunity to introduce vegetable and flower gardening to youth gardeners.  Guidance and support from expert gardeners of adjoining plots may be an additional benefit.

Flowers and vegetables may be grown for personal use and/or donated to area food banks.  Additionally, ribbons and awards are presented at the Gardeners of Central Lake County's annual Flower and Garden Show.  This year's competition is August 16th and will be held on the Cuneo Estate Grounds in Vernon Hills.  Youth Gardeners are encouraged to compete in the youth category of this event.

If you have any questions please contact either Jan Kirch at TKIRCH30@aol.com or call 847-816-7602 OR The Community Garden Manager, Bill Burnett at BurnettWm2@aol.com.
