Pashmina & The Ganesh Handicraft in brief

Now a days pashmina are the most crucial part of any women's and men's get-up.  You can enfold pashmina around to make up to warm and self-serving and even for the lavishness. With hindsight pashmina has become eye-catching in the western fashion world. Pashmina is often inaccurately portrayed as the utmost quality of cashmere.
The origin of this Pashmina is from the Persian word for wool, is popularly known in the west as cashmere wool. The raw material comes from Tibet and Inner Mongolia.     The fine wool comes from the undercoat of the Himalayan mountain goat, which lives in the most remote regions of the Tibetan Plateau. For over a thousand years cashmere has been woven into stoles, shawls, mufflers, scarves, sweater and blankets, treasured by royals for its delicate softness, warmth, and long life. Pashmina shawls are woven on handlooms and most are woven on a warp of spun silk for the betterment of the product.
We have different varieties of pashmina to satisfy our customer needs. We have pashmina product with beads, ombre. Blankets ponchos, cap, and embroidered, designed fringes etc.
We are "The Ganesh handicraft " the exporter and manufacturer of pashmina product .We work with the best weavers and the highest quality pashmina and silk accessible. Our products like shawls do not need to be repeatedly brushed to make them soft.
Pashmina business been carried out from generation in our family but the "Ganesh handicraft" factory was founded nearly 7 years ago by Mr. Arun Manandhar proprietor of this company.  The Ganesh Handicraft cottage made more than 3000 shawls, stoles, scarves, ponchos, blankets and sweaters a month.
Many of these were sold through out the western world. And the rest were sold through our own shops which are located at the central heart of the Kathmandu valley i.e. Thamel and individuals around the world.
The Ganesh Handicraft cottage staff has grown to 50 people, the majority women.  More that 60% of the workers at our factory are women. We believe in the equal rights and always encourage women to work so that they can uplift themselves and feel economically secure. We are a mixture of cultures and languages -  Nepali, , Tibetan and Indain.
The Ganesh handicraft cottage is established as the exporter and manufacturer of the pashmina .  We are known for our standard quality and for fringe work that is even in its spacing and consistent in its knotting position and for the perfect dying..  Each of our weavers is also a loom experts/masters.
The making of pashmina
Pashmina wool
The Ganesh Handicraft use pashmina fiber from the high arid regions of Western Tibet. It is considered to be among the finest in the world. The Himalayan mountain goat, raised by semi-nomadic herders, yields from 3-8 ounces of fiber per year. The Tibetan Plateau provides the ideal environment for pashmina growth. The fiber is exceptionally absorbent, and it dyes very easily and deeply.

Spinning
The fiber is collected and is spun either by hand or mechanically. We use both. We prefer women workers for this work. This spinning is done by the help of charka {in nepali}. In each tuki contains 20-25gm of Pashmina silk thread. Filled tuki is pass to weaver.
Weaving
Our weaving is all done by hand on looms. We use traditional weaving method. Our weaving master is from very long line of master weavers and very much laborious and skilled. In single day each loom can have 8pcs.
Washing
This process helps to maintain the quality of [Pashmina product. It is washed with warm water with care. It is done by hand, no washing machine is used as for the safety reason and each single thread plays vital role for the better quality.
Dyeing
Dyeing at Ganesh Handicraft is also done by hand, each piece individually and with perfection. Our dyer has experience ,skill , infinite patience and knowledge of colors.  We use eco-friendly dyes and neelam color charts and Pantone textile color guide.. We dye at a temperature just below boiling for about 40 minutes. The woven item is first rinsed in hot water, then in cool water, and finally washed with an Aveda shampoo. We dye in a range of 150 colors, mostly based on nature: actual flowers, iridescent feathers, minerals, and autumn leaves, as well as current fashion colors.
Mending
Each and every piece is checked in the light table. Even small defect is also checked and mended as much as possible. Weavers' fills in the missing threads with the help of needles and Pashmina yarn.
Fringes
Women do the finishing of the ends on our shawls, mufflers and blankets. It is the process of twisting and
Knotting the ends of shawl. All our pieces have the standard three-inch long twisted and knotted fringes unless you specify otherwise. Fringes are tied with different pattern with any shape of beads. The patterns are like Kris cross pattern etc.  Fringes are beaded with matching long beads to Pashmina color.
Labeling
Label is attached to every pieces produce from our factory for the reconization. We have different pattern of label for different size and quality of Pashmina items. There are mainly two types of labeling one is the name of cottage label, which is sewed in Pashmina items in right corner. And next is rich paper handling tag, which includes the details of item. This is placed to second last of fringes of tagging machines.
Ironing
For enhancing the quality and to give the final touch ironing is done. While ironing we first spray some water on Pashmina item and put the Nepali paper over the Pashmina item to prevent from iron marking and patches. It is all done by bare hand.

Final checking
First impression is last impression. Keeping view of this proverb, we do check again thoroughly.
