History
The Abilene Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was organized as a petitioning chapter on November 17, 1961, with 12 members. The chapter was installed on May 19, 1962, and became active in the community with a variety of projects. In 1997, the Chapter began a Youth Recital, featuring community youth musicians in concert, following taped auditions. The Chapter continues to host the Ruth Skiles Memorial Scholarship Recital and Silver Scholarship Tea, benefitting members of the Gamma Phi Chapter, and to support the community arts.
