Ever looked outside when the wind is howling in the winter time and wondered what brain damaged fools enjoy and seek out the cold and snow swept landscape and actually look forward to the approach of winter? Well this site is my attempt to share the secrets of what drives the spirit in every downhill skier to search for that special buzz that only skiing can provide. It's more than just a passion. When truly bitten by the skiing bug it is an addiction that can be an overwhelming passion for some and a lifetime of enjoyment for everyone who choses it as their winter sport. Its not easy to put into words, but as an old Manitoba skier once told me, "Glenn, its the most fun you can have with your clothes on!" With those words closely rivalling my own expereince these past 40 years I wondered why more people hadn't joined the ranks of the converted.
Combine the temporary sensation of near weightlessness, the rush and smell of the air and blur of the adjacent wilderness as you cruise and cut great slashing arcs on slopes groomed to perfection and you've grabbed a piece of your own rocket ride. Its a miracle that just doesn't end if you're granted an intro to the sport that blends your ability to learn and enjoy, the right technique and technology at the right time and the terrain that makes it all work together almost without effort. It's mind, body, machine and mountain all in one. And there's the catch. Take one or two of those elements and put in the wrong ingredients and the meal is a disaster.
Over this year I'll share with you some of the secret ingredients that i've experienced as a skier, equipment fitter, instructor and race coach that can ease your way into the transition between earth bound mortal and ski god (or goddess).
