Managerial Routines
EQUIPMENT
*DISTRIBUTION*
-
Have materials for lesson ready before class begins.
-
Have equipment placed in one location all the time.
-
Equipment is handled only after the teacher has given instructions to
the class.
-
Have one partner get equipment, while the other finds an open area.
-
Have equipment scattered to avoid crowding, and increase time on task.
*COLLECTION*
-
Have students place equipment in appropriate containers.
-
Ensure that they put it in the area you want, this will help avoid INJURIES
or ACCIDENTS.
-
Class is only dismissed when all of the equipment has been returned
to the appropriate area.
-
Enlist the help of students in carrying equipment or supplies back to
the equipment room.
PROCEDURES
*CHANGE ROOM PROCEDURES*
-
At the beginning of the year set out expectations of the class in the
team change room. For example, "This is a place where cowards and
bullies hide," and letting students know that it is unacceptable, their
conduct should be no different in the change room than in the classroom.
-
Everyone must be changed by a certain time, perhaps have a countdown
to allow for those students who have difficulty with transitions to be
more comfortable.
INTRODUCTION TO LESSON
-
Use your "Gym Voice" and/or a whistle to call students in, be consistent
with cues.

-
State any specific expectations and rules if applicable.
-
Explain and demonstrate first drill then distribute equipment.
*DISMISSAL*
-
Call students in using a "Gym Voice" and/or a whistle
-
Have an overview of material by asking students questions.

lesson.

Remind them if class will be in a different area or if they need to
bring something specific for next class.
-
Ask a "Fun" question or sport related current events.

partner all the time by getting them to switch partners part way through
the class.
