The problems arise in search work. How can we expect a dog that has been trained with a foundation in avoidance to have the correct drive to search for a hiding suspect? These dogs have little motivation to go out in a field and search for a suspect that he knows is going to add a lot of stress to it's life. The same thing goes for sport dogs doing a blind searches. When a police dog is sent to apprehend a suspect, it's almost impossible to duplicate the survival atmosphere of the table training.
