My Family!

    I love my family!
This is our Christmas 2000 picture.
My parents, George and Julia, have been happily married for 31 years.  My dad just started a new job at Blackmer Corporation and my mom is business editor at Express-Times newspaper.  Both my parents are from the Midwest--my dad was born and raised in Chicago and my mom is a Nebraska girl.  They met at Northwestern, got married, and moved to Sayre, PA when my dad got a job there.  The family eventually moved down to Bethlehem, PA where we still live today--but my parents and Jamison are moving to Michigan in the spring for my dad's job.

My older sister Joy is 25 and mad smart.  She graduated from Penn State University in 1999 with a degree in Kinesiology and from Temple University in May 2002 with her Master's in Education.  She just started a new job as an Academic Support Assistant for the Athletic Department at George Washington University.  Joy loves gymnastics--she has always been involved, as an athlete, a coach, and of course as a fan (if they have "fans" in the gymnastics world). Joy loves pretty much all other sports too.  She was really involved with Penn State's wrestling team, keeping up their website.  (She's really good with this website stuff.)  She also had an internship tutoring freshmen on Penn State's football team, was assistant coach of Temple's women's gymnastic's team in 2000-01, and just finished her job as a conference assistant sports information director for the Mid-Atlantic Corporation.  Joy and I haven't always gotten along as we grew up, but in one peaceful moment we promised to be each other's maid of honor when we get married.  Of course, it looks like we're going to be very old maids at this point, hehe.  Check out Joy's webpage. It puts mine to shame.

My younger brother Greg is 20 and a sophomore at Penn State, Main Campus, where he is on the football team and majoring in Kinesiology. (Sound familiar?  Why am I the odd one out in the family?)  Greg is pretty tall--6'4"ish I think--and he's really buff too.  He's undoubtedly the most popular person to emerge from the Bauer gene pool. It's sad that I go to him for relationship advice, but his relationship with Val has stood the test of time and has more than doubled the duration of my longest relationship.  Greg is such a good-hearted, genuine person and I love him to pieces (when he's not throwing me around, of course).  Plus, I dig having a brother who will beat up guys who are mean to me.

Last but not least, our dogs!  Gretel, our beloved Golden retriever (on the right), died in April 2001--I hope it's not too icky to have her picture in here.  She was the sweetest creature ever, always happy even as she got rickety in her old age.  Unfortunately, my siblings were allergic to her so when we decided to get another dog in 1998, my mom researched dogs that don't make people have such bad allergies and she came up with Irish water spaniels.  I had never heard of them either until we got Jamison (on the left), the most energetic dog I've ever met.  He's now 4 years old.  And NO, he's not a poodle, despite what his froey hair might lead you to believe.
