Jacob Riel, 68, Died: Services Was Held in Brandon on Monday
Jacob Riel, 68, died suddenly Christmas eve, in his home at Ladgo, following a heart attack.
Mr. Riel was born April 28, 1891, in the Town of Alto, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Riel, sr. His marriage to Johanna Schuears occurred Sept. 28, 1915. The couple had resided in the vicinity of Alto, Brandon, and Ladgo all of their married life.
Mr. Riel was employed as a farmer for several years and had been employed by the Kiekhaefer corporation in Fond du Lac prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Warren Heideman and Mrs. Willard Arndt, both of Waupun; four sons, James of Ripon, Dick, Oakfield, and George and Gordon, Waupun; two brothers, Gerrit and John, Waupun; and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Van Ruiswyk, Mrs. Harry Pater, and Mrs. Albert Van Loo, all of Waupun.
The body was in state at the Beyers Funeral home until noon Monday.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Bethal Reformed church, Brandon, with the Rev. Alvin Hospers officiating. Burial was in Alto cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Miles, Kaukauna, Delmar Pater, Milwaukee, James Riel, William Van Ruiswyk, James Van Loo, and Arthur Van Loo.

Obituary--Mrs. Johanna W. Riel, 89, a resident of the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Randolph, Wis., died Thursday, April 2, 1987 at the home where she had been a resident for the past 14 years. Mrs. Riel was born July 25, 1897, in the town of Waupun, the daughter of the late Richard and Minnie Ten Pas Scheuers. She married Jake Riel in September of 1915 in Waupun. The couple lived around Waupun and for most of their lives resided in the Ladoga area. Mrs. Riel has been a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon for many years. Survivors include three sons, James Riel of Fond du Lac, George Riel and Gordon Riel, both of Waupun; two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Heideman of rural Waupun and Mrs. Gordon (Jessie) Perry of Waupun; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma Tamminga of Pardeeville, Wis.; one brother, Edward Schears of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her husband in December of 1959, one son, one daughter, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethel Reformed Church, Brandon. Mr.Douglas McClintic, Intern Pastor, officiated. Burial followed at Alto Cemetery, Alto. Friends were able to call at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the
church on Saturday from noon to the time of service.

WAUPUN - Minnie Heideman, 82, of Waupun, died on Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Wilfred Fiet officiated. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Heideman was born on Nov. 9, 1919, in the town of Waupun, the daughter of Jake and Johanna (Schears) Riel. She was married on Sept. 21, 1940, to Warren Heideman in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mrs. Heideman and her husband lived in the Waupun area all their married life. She did housekeeping for families in the area and the Waupun Radio station for 16 years. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

Survivors include three brothers, James (LaVerne) Riel, Fond du Lac, George Riel, and Gordon (Jean) Riel, both of Waupun; one sister, Jessie (Gordon) Perry, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; one brother, Dick Riel, and one sister, Marie Riel.

Friends called on Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, served the family.

Warren Heideman, 54, Rt. 1, Waupun was pronounced dead on arrival at Waupun Memorial hospital at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, following a fatal heart attack.
Mr. Heideman was born Nov. 6, 1915 in Waupun, the son of William and Jennie Harmsen Heideman.
He was married to the former Minnie Riel, of Waupun Sept. 21, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple lived at their present address all their married life. Mr. Heideman was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, and a member of First Reformed church.
Survivors include his widow; three brothers, Reuben, Germain and Lawrence, Waupun; and two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Alsma; and Mrs. Ray Bronkhorst, Waupun.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at Werner-Beyers funeral home. The Rev. Frederic Dolfin will officate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden, Beaver Dam. Friends may call at the Werner-Beyers funeral home Wednesday, From 3 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services for Miss Marie Riel, 25, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Riel, Route 2, Brandon, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Brandon Methodist church. The Rev. Harold Korver, Pastor of the Bethal Reformed church, Brandon, officiated.
Burial was in the Alto cemetery.
Miss. Riel was killed early Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, while seated in a car in front of her rooming house in Fond du Lac.
She was born Sept. 13, 1932, in the town of Green Lake, and moved to the town of Waupun with her parents when a child.
She had been employed at the Wells Manufactoring company in Fond du Lac for the past five years.
She is survived by her parents, six brothers and sisters, James, Ripon, Mrs. Warren Heideman and Mrs. Willard Arndt, Waupun, Dick, Oakfield, and George and Gorden, Waupun.
Her body was in state at the Beyers Funeral home from Thursday night until Saturday noon.
