   Papaver Somniferum Moribundus

Even a perfect flower dies,
Its glorious blossoming spent at last.
Even a perfect lover cries
When the wonders of love are in the past.
The poppy's red fades again
The lover's joy turns to sighs
A flower waits for renewing rain
A heartbreak waits to make one wise.
Yet even the pain and the lies
Must not eat into the soul.
The spirit lives and loves and flies
Again and again to the perfect goal.
This is the cycle of life and love
Both the flower and heart are bound by ties,
Both planted with seeds, with rain from above
Are watered, growing to all our surprise.
Even a perfect flower dies,
Its glorious blossoming spent at last.
Even a perfect lover cries
When the wonders of love are in the past.

                           -O-
