Paddle your own...

My canoe is an 18 foot fibreglass Cadorette, green, flat bottom triple keeled freighter. Beamy enough to stand in for poling through shallow grassy areas, tough enough to shrug off the many deadheads she has to shunt aside every trip up or down the ditch, yet not too heavy to drag across the beaver dams. She has survived 24 years of use and outdoor storage with no maintenance at all. When I lived in far northern Alberta beside North Wabasca Lake I was sometimes (too many for comfort in recollection) caught on the wrong side of the lake, or in the middle, when a summer storm came up. I would sit low in the middle, take the waves angle on and paddle like hell for home. I swear she never shipped a gallon of water on any of those trips. She's a wonderful old boat, I'd trust her with my life. I guess I already have.

When I lived up North I got involved in another boat project.
