Biography

Hailing from both sides of the Atlantic and three different continents, the individuals who embody Four Years Past have an eclectic, almost uncommon balance that is contingent on one underlying bond. Music. Whether the art of creating or the emotional dynamics of performing, it is this sole essential that incessantly fuels the core of Four Years Past.

Although the founding members met in Tallahassee, FL, Four Years Past have firmly established themselves as an Orlando-based quartet. Their simple lineup (Craig Cimring: guitar, James McMullin: lyrics/vocals, Stefano Scaran: bass, Todd Phillips: drums) creates a raw but distinct sound that covers a wide range of power driven rock, intertwined with melodic verse. McMullin's voice has been described as possessing "a curious but appealing quaver... that lifts the band's music above the teeming modern rock masses" (Tallahassee Democrat, Jan 11th 2002). This unique sound is furthered by Cimring's masterful songwriting, low end and chunky guitar style, Scaran's visceral blend of harmony and groove and Phillips' aggressively unyielding percussion. Taken as a whole, Four Years Past combine to produce solid stories in each of their songs, complete with lilting melodies, global satire and gut wrentching memories. This potent balance is accomplished only through their music.

In their two and a half year existence, Four Years Past have endured the trenches while building themselves a name, claiming fans one by one if necessary. This painstaking dedication has proven quite auspicious as the band slowly perks ears and turns heads within the music industry. Their live performance and undeniable consistency have earned Four Years Past a reputation as one of the top recommended Florida rock bands, availing them the opportunity to play all over the state and open for national acts such as Disturbed, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Finger Eleven, Skrape, Adema, Flickerstick, Cold, and Oleander. Furthermore, their persistence has yielded rotation on some of the state's larger rock radio stations (101.1 WJRR Orlando, 104.1 Gainesville, X101.5 Tallahassee, and 99.9 Tallahassee and 94.9 Miami).

With the October 2001 pressing of their full length debut "Surface," Four Years Past have resumed actively touring throughout the state in support of their album. This independently produced album captures the hard-hitting peaks and melodic valleys commonly heard by those familiar with the live performances of Four Years Past.
