THE FUZZFISH BIOGRAPHY

-the life story

And so the story begins..... in the year of 1998, perhaps some might say it started earlier, but 1998 was the year Fuzzfish had their first rehearsal together. Under the name of "the Eternal Hunting-Fields", as it would sound if you translate it from Norwegian, they had one gig at "the House of Youth" ("Ungdommen"). Mostly cover songs were played, but also a few "home-built" songs too. It was easy to hear that the five young men were influenced by grunge bands like Nirvana, Spin Docs, Pearl Jam etc. The feedback from the audience was good, so they thought; "hmm, why don't we get together and find our own sound?" and so they did....

In the Helltune Bomb Shelter, the band started playing every Monday and one Monday the groove came too, as a consequence of Jan writing more songs. The new sound was in the style of the so called "power-pop-rock", or as the band said in an interview with a local newspaper; " ehh.... pop/rock, or alternative-indie-rock, or powerful-pop, or ...whatever, something no one else has." The last was maybe just a contempt to brag, because there is of course bands that have influenced FUZZFISH. The American bands Weezer and Fountains of Wayne are examples of similar styles, but the one and only the BEATLES are also at the same avenue.

FUZZFISH played a lot of gigs around Bergen, but only made 3000,-NOK in two years, of course they did'nt mind. In an interview with TV HORDALAND, that was filmed together with the filming of the music video "DROP", the drummer, Einar Olsson said; "we are not in it for the money....and we will never be. So the band kept playing around in Bergen. They made it to the finals in the famous battle-of-bands-contest, "EGGSTOKKFESTIVALEN" in 1999, but didn't win. They also made it to the finals of the "youth-cultural-festival" or "Ungdommens Kulturmønstring", as it would sound in Norwegian, but didn't win this either. The same year they did win "the Rainrock-Festival" and recorded the song "When You Dream" for the first prize. This was the bands third time in a studio.

In the summer of the year 2000, they recorded their last song,"In You I Drown", in "Haugatun Lydstudio". At the time you are reading this, FUZZFISH are not playing. Einar goes to school in the south-west of Norway. Eirik and Jan goes to a school in the eastern parts of Norway, and Mads and Stian is all alone back in Bergen. The rumours sais that they are planing to record an EP around Christmas times, and the rumours might be right.......
