Sylvester

Sylvester James, the most famous gay disco artist (OK then, maybe that's the Village People? Sorry). Sylvester worked with groups The Cockettes, The Hot Band and The Weather Girls before recording in his own right. His first album produced two big disco tracks, "Over and over" (written by Ashford & Simpson and "Down down down." He had a huge international disco hit in 1978 with the gay anthem "You make me feel (mighty real)", shortly followed by "Dance (disco heat)". Also listen for "Grateful" on the same album ("Step II"). From "Stars" listen for the title track, the excellent cover of "I" and for interest "I need somebody to love tonight" - a record to shape the face of early 1980's ambient music.
