Sergio Mendes

Native Brazilian Sergio Mendes formed his jazzy-latin flavoured outfit in the 1960's and had several pop hits in that decade. By the mid 1970's, Sergio and his group were experimenting with soulful and jazz-funk recordings, and a double appeal to soul and disco fans was provided in 1977 with classic "The real thing" b/w "Mozambique" - a rare 12" to own.

Former lead singer Lani Hall also had a disco hit in the late 1970's ("Double or nothing").
