Real Thing
Hugely successful UK disco-pop band, founded by brother Chris & Eddie Amoo.
Produced by UK disco writer Biddu.
Second single, "You to me are everything", was surprise UK No. 1 chart
hit. Follow-up hit, the superior "Can't get by without you" had
clearer disco bassline and guitar scratching to die for; it got to No. 2.
"Let's go disco" is an unrecognisable cover version of MFSB's
song of the same name - from the film "The Stud". Best song of all is
"Can you feel the force" - the 1979 remix is the best (it was
originally released on the album "Step into our world")- it's a
brilliant disco classic. Later tracks are more funky in style, eg. "Boogie
down (get funky now)" and "Watcha say, watcha do". Band faded
after "She's a groovy freak" (1980) but then began to chart again in
the mid 1980's at the start of the remix craze.
