Love Committee
New York male vocal disco group produced by Baker-Harris-Young. Originally on
TSOP label for one 7" single; signed to the Gold Mind subsidiary of Salsoul
in 1977, the group produced the first 12" on Gold Mind - "Cheaters
never win". From this 12" (mixed by DJ Walter Gibbons) the selected
cut for discos was the b-side "Where will it end", a Philly-sounding
disco mix nearly eight minutes long. From their first LP, listen for "Law
and order" - or better still, the minimalistic Walter Gibbons mix from the
promo 12".
Love Committee switched to T-Electric records in 1979 (via MCA) and recorded
the more classic-disco sounding "Boogie papers". The LP includes
"Love people theme".
